I have often heard of people with childhood fears, most commonly a fear of clowns, and wondered where on earth that would come from. Well after seeing this juggler, I have a sneaky suspicion it comes from performances like the one the girls and I saw at the library a few weeks ago.
Meet James Reid, juggler extraordinaire.... He was currently doing shows for the Maricopa Library District. Each week the library here would have some sort of entertainment available, puppet shows, ventriloquists, magicians, etc.... We had a great time seeing all of these performers....well almost all.
I have come to the conclusion after watching 1 hour and 5 minutes of James Reid Juggler extraordinaire that he must be juggler by day, child killer by night. During his show he required complete silence (try doing this with 150 kids sitting on the ground). Quite a few times during the show he would request silence so he could do his tricks... one time someones cell phone went off, and he stopped mid-juggle and said "Oh don't mind me I'm not here at all." and then went furiously back to juggling. There was another time when he did allow some music in his show, well for about 3 minutes, which the kids, after sitting, quietly, I might add for 35 minutes, enjoyed quite a bit. After his one allotted music juggling act, he turned the music off and went back to juggling.....thus a few kids started saying "Turn the music back on! Turn the music back on!." To this they got the same effect of him mid juggling stopping and saying "The music is over now do you want me to continue with my trick or not?". He actually waited for the child's reply before he went on. There were a few more instances like this, commanding complete silence, it was brilliant, he also took away a little girls back pack during the performance when she was playing with it instead of watching him. Man this is definitely a man I would want performing for my kids...he is so kind, and enthusiastic! I think I'll book him for Alli's birthday party!
But to top off all of the fun, we have a memento to remember it by. My girls were in the newspaper that week with James Reid Extraoridnaire! The thought it was fantastic!

YIKES. why in the world would he choose that profession if he can't do it with distractions? nutso.
Crazy juggler! Cool newspaper clip though, too bad yours isn't colored on!!
Yeah, those guys can be real weirdos! In Boston and New York we've seen those ego-maniacs loose it when someone wasn't paying enough attention or when they didn't get what they thought was a big enough tip or whatever. KOO-KOO!
Jolene you have a way with words that is hilarious. Tammi
