BOO!

This Halloween I really wasn't that into it, I didn't spend a lot of time or thought on it, I didn't rush out and buy Halloween costumes or even decorate, the only thing I had to concede to was spending $40.00 on Halloween Candy, and that definitely made me not into it. I was going to call this Halloween the one that I really didn't care for, but by the end I decided I definitely did care. There's nothing like seeing the excitement in your kids eyes to make you care about anything.

Alli had it in her mind for a long time that she wanted to be a vampiress for Halloween. I have to admit that I wasn't that thrilled about it. I think she got the idea when Thomas and I went on a date one night and a 14 year old babysitter introduced my young children to the Twilight series; a set of books about vampires. The babysitter was kind enough to go on the Internet and show them pictures and tell them the whole story. What I got in return from that date night was a messy house, a whole carton of ice cream devoured by the girls and the babysitter, and best of all three little girls who had nightmares about vampires for a few nights...well worth my money I would say. (I can give you her number if you want it!)

Claire wanted to be a witch, but definitely not an ugly witch. Luckily for me Alli was a witch a few years back so that costume was taken care of. I just had to buy a new hat and some green makeup and had to promise that I would not put any moles or warts on her face. I would say mission accomplished. But I must say that I hate that makeup with the 90 degree heat here their faces were literally melting during the night. It was disgusting, it got all over their clothes, hair and hands....ughhhh and ughhh to the weather, isn't it supposed to be fall?!

Ainsley was our spooky black kitty, she was quite insistent on the black part. I had bought her a really cute kitty costume that was white and pink and was told to take it back because she wanted to be a black kitty. So we went to the dollar store and purchased the kitty ears, tail and bow tie all for the bargain price, of yep you guessed it, one dollar. I was quite surprised when she told me she wanted her entire face painted black also, so I agreed to do it for her. She was very insistent on how it should look and where I should put the makeup on her face. Silly kitty.

When we found out we were pregnant with a boy Tommy told me he wanted him to be mini-me like on Austin Powers for Halloween. He was insistent on us shaving the baby's head so he could look just like him and we'd have to make those weird outfits that they wear in the movies. As any sane mother would do, I profusely argued with the fact that one, we'd dress up our kid as a character from those dumb movies, and two that we'd shave our poor baby's head....was he crazy?

Luckily Thomas has been sporting a goatee since September so it was easy for me to come up with a solution to my nightmare. I suggested doing twins instead of mini-me's same concept right? Matching 'BOO!!" beenies, matching shirts, and the most important part, matching beards.

We couldn't get Rainier to wake up the entire night. He was out like a light, so Tommy was such a good sport and posed asleep next to him so I could get my perfect picture.

This picture reminds me of a drunken old man for some reason....not quite sure why but I love it. I sure hope Rainier doesn't turn out to be a drunken old man, that would be some tragic foreshadowing.

We had a great low-key Halloween, the girls have tons of candy now and everyone had their Halloween wishes fulfilled. I now have kids running around at 60 miles per hour, makeup stained furniture, and about 5 million candy wrappers all over the ground. Why wouldn't I care about Halloween?

Oh my goodness! Alli you are quite the scary VAMPIRESS! I have to say when the boys saw the pictures Spencer went Yikes I hope Claire looks prettier than that. When I scrolled down to Claire the boys started laughing histerically. The girls looked so authentic, I can't believe what a FABULOUS makeup artist you are. And Ainsley... well you take the whold cats MEOW sister!!
