The other day Claire asked me "What if you didn't marry dad mom?" and I said "I don't know."
"Well then wouldn't you be sad because you wouldn't have us?" answered Claire.
"Well what if I still had you? It could happen."
Ainsley suddenly chimed in "But wouldn't you be sad because you wouldn't have your wonderful, great husband?"
I nodded and she continued, "You're wonderful, great husband who is such a great dad, and really likes the color blue..."
"Yeah probably, but would I know what I was missing out on?" I replied
"Yes," Ainsley replied almost panicked "...your wonderful great husband who really likes the color dark blue, and really likes blue....and hmmm really likes blue and motorcycles and....stuff."
It melted my heart. I'm so glad these girls recognize at least one thing about their dad, that he IS a great dad and a wonderful husband, oh and that he likes the color dark blue.

That's funny because my kids obsess over the color orange, b/c they think it's C's favorite color. (He has an orange scooter, so natch it must be his fave.)
PS - it's totally possible to hate kids and be a good dad:)
