Musings

I grew up in a home where we had water gun fights in the house, a dad who enjoyed making "special" pancakes that had surprises in the middle of them, ranging anywhere from bubblegum and coins to leaves, and attending church with hand drawn mustaches and glasses to go with my nicest church dress was a common occurance.

Needless to say you can probably imagine the havoc caused when all 8 of the siblings get together without thier significant others to reign them in.

One of my nieces got married in the Salt Lake Temple and I was able to make the trek out for the event, making it even more momentous was the fact that all 7 of my siblings were able to make it out as well.

I must say it was probably one of the most fun weekends I've had in quite sometime.

Having us together may include some horsing around in hotel rooms, brothers throwing towels down the hallway, my sister and I trying to push another sister down the hall in a rolling chair, and jumping on beds, my dad always encouraged that at hotels.
I guess you could say we act like a bunch of 12 year olds, or maybe slightly younger.

We have no problem documenting the latest fashion trends....
boy did we see quite a few!

Posing to get the best picture absolutely possible.

Or showing up to receptions in our finest.
Our dad has always been then best example of how to behave at "classy" events.
He's such a cultured man.
I have fond memories of going to nice restaraunts and leaving food underneath the over turned coffee cups or siblings crawling under the table and behaving like dogs, or even pulling through McDonalds drive thrus and seeing my dad smear his icecream on the side of the wall.

Amazingly enough we have all managed to mature at least a small bit and marry and have children, and become contributing adults in one way or another.

While our shenanigans may seem immature or even rude to some, growing up this way always taught me not to take life too seriously, to find joy in one another, and above all else, enjoy what life has to offer.
I'm so grateful for my families sense of humor, for their compassion and their friendship.
They really are my best friends!
