A proud moment

I've allowed myself to become complacent about this whole blogging business, and it saddens me because I am missing out on writing about little treasures that I'll probably never remember since I have a horrible memory.

Yesterday was a special treat, as I sat amongst some friends in Relief Society I saw the Young Women walk into the room, with them Allison walked in. My face beamed from ear to ear as I realized that I was going to be able to sit next to my daughter in Relief Society. I quickly ditched my friends and had my arm around Alli and enjoyed an hour of solitude with her. Its rare that I have a lot of one on one time with the kids, and if I do its usually interrupted by daily to-do's. But sitting still in Relief Society  was a strangely rewarding situation, that is hard to put into words. I was able to partake of the fruits of parenting yesterday, to be able to share and receive special, spiritual bonding time with your children is remarkable. To truly realize how beautiful it will be in the eternities with your children and to realize how important it is to live our lives worthily to return.

I'm not sure how my little girl has turned into such a beautiful young woman, how she has gone from collecting Pokemon cards to wearing make-up, but she is an individual ray of light in my life. Her radiant personality brings joy to me and many others. She's helpful at home, loves her siblings, and enjoys others. While she is dabbling in the drama that accompanies that age, I can see she still strives to be pure, to be righteous and wants to achieve goodness. I'm so thankful for her special spirit, I'm so thankful to be a mother, and I am so thankful for these sweet opportunities that allows me to feel our Heavenly Fathers love for us.

Wow. I can't believe she's old enough to be in Young Women's...let alone Relief Society. What an awesome experience.

Shhhh... don't tell anyone but I am really loving the getting older business. They change so much for the good and become so helpful. PLUS, they can watch their siblings while dad and I (or just I) slip out for a bit.

Alli is so beautiful! The kiddos are 12 and still keeping in touch even though they are miles away from each other. I have to say Matthew is pretty persistent.
