2011 Halloween retelling

Halloween has come and gone, and yet I can't let go of writing about it. It was such a nice Halloween, complete with fog, haze and a light  cold drizzle, accompanied with fall leaves covering the ground, friends, and children running from house to house finding treats.  It was the first Halloween the girls went out on their own, an official right of passage to all children. I have fond memories of walking around my childhood neighborhood with friends alone, feeling old, and free, and giddy with a sugar rush. I was so pleased to have my children inducted into the tradition. Rainier and I wore out quickly with the cold and left the girls part way through, and while we hurried home to make hot cocoa and receive our friends into our home, the girls merrily went on their ways, with pillow cases in hand, and upon their return quickly went to their rooms to exchange candy, another childhood memory of mine. It seems so far and few between now a days when they get to experience a bit of my childhood and I'm always so pleased when they do. It brings me extreme joy to see that little piece of magic again.

Claire totally ROCKS! Love all of the costumes. The leaves are nice too, they help me remember that seasons exist.

Love the leaves, the costumes and the drizzly, foggy day! Good job. The capes are awesome too!
