The girls and I were feeling a little blue this week because Grammy left. (Thomas' mom) She flew into town just in time to be the first one to visit Rainier, and just in time to help us all recover from this great little change in our lives.
The girls loved having Grammy here to take care of them. She got them up every morning for school, got them breakfast, packed their lunches and snacks and took them to school. Then she would pick them up from school, get them snacks, help them with homework, read them books, sing songs with them and have a delicious dinner waiting.
I loved having Teresa here taking care of me. She allowed me to sleep in, was great company during the day, gave great advice and saw to my every need. She did a ton of laundry, a ton of dishes, a ton of sweeping, and I am sure a ton I am not even aware of.
During the week Alli had to write about family traditions at school and this is what she wrote. It sure makes me happy that grammy was always on their minds.
TRANSLATION:
My family tradition
Every time a baby is born my grandma comes because she was a nurse.
Teresa said she sure is glad she was a nurse so we would allow her to come. :)
I really feel so blessed to have married into such an awesome family. They have accepted me as one of "them" from day one. How lucky am I that I have a mother in law that I actually enjoy and look forward to spending a week with?
Thanks Teresa for all that you did for us, and thanks to the Gearhart kids for sharing your great mom with me.

Some of us are lucky to have great mother in laws. Mine is wonderful too. I'm glad she was here with you. I still need to come see that sweet baby of yours. I'm getting excited to see mine!!
What a great blessing! Alli is so smart to identify that as a Family Tradition. When asked I always rack my brain forever trying to think of what our family traditions are. Oh, what a simple thing. We all have so many special traditions. Thank you for sharing this Family Tradition of yours.
