This past Saturday we took advantage of Arizona's beautiful 'winter' weather and went for a hike.
There are some 'mountains' a few miles away called the White Tanks and so we loaded the family up and went on our merry little way.
It was great to be outside and be together. We've done this in years past and usually have kids whining or someone having to be carried on the way down but the girls were happy the entire way and actually ran quite a bit of it.
They dug climbing all of the boulders and are now begging Tommy to take them rock climbing for real.
Captain Kangaroo and his baby Joey got quite a few comments along the way...
and my walking companion sniffed and sniffed until there was no more sniffing to do.
We managed to survive danger and calamity.... 
by only running into this one ugly critter. It was 6 to 8 inches long and really grossed me out.I have to say it was an exceptional day...I love it when I have those days.

Jolene I have missed a ton of updates. I love the Valentiness fun. That letter and poem from/ for your mom is so priceless. I am all teary eyed at just how sweet it is. Ok, I may be stupid but I seriously didn't know we had those things in AZ. They COMPLETELY CREEP me out! Also, I've never been to our "mountains" as long as I've lived here. I obviously need to get out more...looks like a fun day with your cute family though!
Sheesh that thing is creepy. And we need to go out and hike again, it's been awhile. I love Capn Kangaroo!
So dangerous, I am glad that you survived I don't know what I would ever do without you.
Fhew...that was a close one! Maybe not poisonous, but could creep you to death! Did you guys take the waterfall trail?
Oooohh. I love a day in the sun and hiking and stuff. Wish we could have come!
