Thomas has joked for years that Mothers Day is really Wives Day, and I have to agree it is at least for now. So in return obviously Fathers Day is my Husbands Day. Each Mothers Day Thomas works hard to make the day perfect to show his love for me, and since I already make every other day perfect :) how do I appropriately express my gratitude to the father of my children, to my spouse, to the man who has worked so hard to be able to give me the life I have? Is it really even possible? The more I think about it the more I am convinced that I cannot put into words the love I have for him.
There has been a quote by Ralph Parlette near our computer for years that Thomas loves "Strength and struggle go together. The supreme reward of struggle is strength. Life is a battle and the greatest joy is to overcome. The pursuit of easy things makes men weak. Do not equip yourselves with superior power and hope to escape the responsibility and work. It cannot be done. It is following the lines of least resistance that makes rivers and men crooked."
This quote is a perfect anthem of the life that Thomas leads. As with everyone, our lives together haven't been easy and with each struggle brought to overcome, Thomas exerts strength and diligence, working full heartily until the task is done. He becomes a stronger man, I become a stronger woman, and our children become stronger people as we learn from his example. Through each trial and task, we have been greatly rewarded with new experiences, new strength, and new joy. That joy reverts to stronger love, a better understanding of one another and the willingness to work harder side by side for the next thing at hand.
My husband has given me an eternal family, a safe home, security to our children, priesthood blessings, he has been an example of leadership, and ultimately he gives me unconditional love. To this man I owe more, I can never be good enough to him, but I will struggle and work to be the woman he deserves.
