One last

About two weeks ago we were hit with some beautiful weather, I'm talking 60's. Funny thing is when we lived in Arizona that was a bit on the chilly side for me and now it gets in the 40's and I ditch my coat.  Anyhow in those two glorious days I took Rainier to the park 3 times, and boy, he was in heaven. He jumped, and ran, and slid down the slides, he climbed and swung and wore his little legs out. It was like releasing a prisoner, poor boy. It was such a feeling of accomplishment when I put him the bath at night with dirt and grit in his hair, I have a feeling if we were in a more agreeable climate right now that is how he would be the majority of the time.

Even though it was so beautiful and nice, I was hoping for one last snow day. I love snow days, I sleep in, no hustle and bustle of getting the kids off to school, although they are fairly self sufficient now, it's mostly that I have to roll out of bed and drive them to school in my p.j.'s (poor me I know).

Well I got my wish, a mere four days later were struck with a good snow storm. We got about 6 inches of snow in a 9 hour period. When I used to hear 6 inches of snow I thought, eh big deal, well it is a big deal, do you know how much 6 inches of snow spread out across an entirely uphill driveway, about 20 steps and a concrete backyard equates to? Oh, A LOT! But no worries, after spending about 2 hours shoveling away I figured my work would have to suffice and then I was saved by two motivated neighborhood boys who were looking to earn some money. Awh what $10 can buy you on our street....pure giddiness I tell ya.

Anyways, back to my snow day, it was a bright, sunny day and Claire finally received her winters wish, she and I built an igloo together, the other girls had friends over and were busy, Rainier was frozen stiff and refused to come back outside for the day and so she and I were able to work away on our little icy home. She is quite determined and was very helpful. Once our masterpiece was done we went and got the other girls and the rest of the morning was spent filling up trash bags so that they could have snow bean bags and sorts to sit on and be comfortable in their igloo.

Sadly for Claire we had some good rain come about 2 days later and it melted our igloo away. She had quite the traumatic experience on Sunday afternoon as we were walking in from church and we all jumped on the last few inches of the remaining igloo....let's just say it was a rocky evening after that for her. But I am glad we got one last snow day and some good fun, or at least I hope it was our last snow day for the season....whew, who knew seasons were so much work?

That's the coolest! My kids would be so jealous. I remember when we first moved to AZ from MN and the kids wanted to play with their sleds so bad, so we got them out and they pulled them around on the gravel. The snow was fun, but I don't miss any of the hard work that comes with it! Glad you had those boys to help!!

What an impressive igloo. I have to laugh at your new ability to endure cold weather (i will not even let my kids wear shorts when it's not going to reach 65)in...you are going to fry when you come visit this summer!

You're such a fun mom!!

I have come to really appreciate the warmth and spring and summer from living in Utah. Seriously, it hits 45 degrees and I think it's warm! Insane.
