Happy Rosh Hashanah

Last Thursday the girls had the day off for Rosh Hashanah.
We live in a highly populated jewish community so the schools give Jewish Holidays off here.
I have to admit that I enjoy watching the jewish families walking to synagogue on Friday evenings, for some strange reason it brings a feeling of safety.  There is probably a synagogue every mile or so around here, some very elaborate and some very simple.  I probably should do some research of the Jewish religion so I know the difference between the men in black suits and curled side burns and the ones with just yarmulkas.  It is all so interesting.

Anyhow onto last Thursday, we were able to play all day and decided to take a few friends to the Carnegie Science Center with us.

Its a great place to keep antsy bodies busy and crazy moms sane.

Oooh, how fun! I love holidays like that. I bet non-Mormons love the 24th of July in Utah, too.

FYI, Jewish men wear yarmulkas as a sign of their devotion to God, that they recognize his presence all around them (and above them, hence the hat on top of the head). The men who wear hats and have the ringlets are Hasidic Jews and are just ultra-conservative and probably the most strict (read: follow the letter of the Law of Moses to a T) of the Jewish sects. (I took Judaism & the Gospel in college, that's the only reason I know.)
