Ode to My Dad

This is my Dad, I never realized how much we looked alike until I had this picture taken....kind of funny.
This is my Dad with a bunch of the Rentz cousins a few years back. My Dad has always had this tradition of coloring on kids faces, thus the picture above, where I believe this time the cousins had a hay-day on grandpa and then on each other.
I remember many a times when I was younger and being at church, yes at church, walking around with a nice new mustache and glasses to match. I loved it. As I grew older and went back to visit my Dad in our old ward, young kids, that did not belong to our family, would still be mysteriously walking around with the same face art. :)
Jaicee, my Dad, and apparently Ainsley not enjoying art time anymore.
Well this Saturday we were a bit bored and I was surprised that Alli, Claire, and Ainsley were more than anxious to allow me to decorate their faces. They weren't into the mustache, but did like the idea of being dalmatians with glasses. This entertained us for a good 10 minutes. Time well used I would say.

I like it. I did that to my kids once. They kept looking at me like I was crazy at first, then they seemed like they thought this was some kind of test that they were failing, and seemed worried that they were going to get in trouble.Once they realized it was truly all fun and games they relaxed and enjoyed it. Of course then they kept doing it to each other every now and then when the other one as sleeping. They couldn't understand why I didn't approve?!

Emily, I guess it depends on what type of ink you use....sometimes yes and sometimes no. :)

What a great memory! I love when things happen to or with my kids that I can remember happening when I was little (like drinking out of the hose) and sharing those memories. I wish I had a super fun memory like this, your dad is GREAT!

Oh it all makes sense now. I guess thats why Tommy has smiley faces on his head at church meetings. That's a fun tradition!
