Impromptu

I received a call Friday morning from Thomas, apparently my 999 hints about wanting to go to the Muse concert had finally set in and he was wondering if I'd like to go to the concert that night for a sweet date. I answered yes, or course, and by 3:30 that afternoon he'd acquired floor tickets for the show. Woo-Hoo! I quickly found a babysitter and off we went.

For dinner he took me to a cool little "urban pizzeria" (honestly that is how they labeled it) called Cibo. It's in downtown Phoenix and is retrofitted out of an old house. The food was quite delicious, the atmosphere was very quaint and to make everything even more enjoyable the in-house music provided was a single keyboardist whose major influences were Marvin Gaye and Barry White. We were treated to such classics as "Sexual Healing"  "Let's Get it On" and "Brick House". Oh it was incredible! After such a magical musical experience I questioned weather we should even go to the concert, but alas we decided the money was already spent.
So off we went. Right now, the weather is absolutely perfect, so a stroll downtown at night is truly enjoyable. There is just something distinctive about any downtown, maybe its the homeless digging through garbage or pan handling (speaking of, onetime when Thomas was downtown, he does work there, a man offered him a certain "sexual favor" for some spare change, yuck!) or maybe the atmosphere is heightened by the college kids that are out, the weekend calling them for clubbing, or the humming of the light rail, which Thomas made me ride without paying for a ticket, I get all nervous nelly with things like that. Nonetheless downtown allows me one of my favorite things; people watching.
I suppose I should have done a little research before going to the concert, listened to a few Muse tunes to get me in the "mood" but it only took us a little bit before we were in the "zone", whatever that means.
The show was great, lightshows and all. My only question was how much the bass guitarist must have been sweating in his peacock blue sheer-sucker suit. He seemed to survive though with his constant head bobs and occasional breaks to take a smoke. The bassist wasn't my favorite, but the front man and drummer made up for it. All in all they were very entertaining.

Top Memorable Moments:
The look of absolute fear on Thomas' face when a female decided to go crowd surfing in daisy dukes and he ALMOST had to touch her bare thigh to keep her from cracking her head open, luckily someone more enthusiastic helped her out.

Drunk girl number two.

Wasted hairy man who couldn't even keep his eyes open, how on earth did he manage to stand up?

Giant balloons filled with confetti thrown to the crowd. Who doesn't love giant balloons and confetti popped all over them?

Jumping until my calves were burning just to embarrass Tommy.

Making Tommy throw his hands in the air and wave them like he just don't care, just to embarrass him a bit more...that and to make it more fun too.

And for a little mush....
Being there with my absolute favorite person in the world, having him smile at all my obnoxious attempts of  fun and enjoying a night out with just the two of us. I think he's the best, just don't let him know I said that.

How romantic! Ok, how fresh, young, and totally radical.

It sounded like the perfect date. You two looked fab and the atmospheres of the concert and pizza seemed great! I am always up for something "different." I think Tommy loves having a wife that takes him out of his element...:)cute!
