I truly wish I were better at writing down the interesting/funny/endearing things my children say, unfortunately I'm not good at it. And even worse, I'm not good at remembering them. It's depressing. I am convinced that I will probably have dementia by the age of 40. So I figured I would do a basic interview, and hopefully keep the process up and do it every now and again. Hopefully next time I will do it with slightly less generic questions. But alas this is our first 2 minute attempt.

On a side note, one that I really will be killed for by Alli, a few weeks ago, Claire came running in from school to tattle on Alli.
"Alli's been holding a boys hand at school!"
GULP! Anger rising up, then remembering my childhood I let it simmer on down before I let a word slip out of my mouth.
"What's going on Alli? We need to talk. Have you been holding hands with a boy at school?"

GULP! Anger rising up, then remembering my childhood I let it simmer on down before I let a word slip out of my mouth.
"What's going on Alli? We need to talk. Have you been holding hands with a boy at school?"
"Yes."
I raise my eyebrow...very high.
"But I have never felt this way about a boy before."
I may have rolled my eyes...
"Well that may be but, believe me, there will be plenty more boys you feel this way about."
"Na-ah!"
"And you're just too young to be holding hands, it really innappropriate."
"But I've never felt this way about a boy before and he's never felt this way about a girl before."
Please just shoot me now and put me out of my misery, I'm not entirely sure I can make it through 3 girls.
"Alli, let me tell you why it is not okay to hold hands. If you start holding hands now at this young age, you'll get bored with it and start hugging, and then after awhile you will get bored of hugging, and then you'll want to start kissing, and believe me YOU ARE DEFINITELY too young for that. Fourth grade is WAY too young to hold hands, Alli I'm sorry."
Sulk, sulk, sulk.
I wanted to write this down, one because its sickingly funny, but I think it shows a true side of Alli, she is definitely a romantic, but the main part of this is that she followed through with what I asked of her, she was really worried about what to tell the boy and I asked her to pray about it. Later that evening she came into my room and said I know what I am going to tell him. We discussed her decision and the next day after school she reported to me that she had finished the task. I asked her what he said and she replied " He said 'That sucks.' and I said yeah it does." But the most, and probably only, beautiful part of this story, is it once again showed Alli's willingness to obey, to put a little faith in me and trust me on my advice. She is such a beautiful daughter and I pray her willingness to obey will take her to all of the best places in life.
Whew...off tangent there for a minute sorry, now back to the regularly scheduled interviews.

Love the interview questions. Oh Alli, boys are a dime a dozen when your young. You truly did a great job biting that in the butterball turkey. Love ya
That is great I am going to copy you! I think Jaxson might say her too!!!! They were pretty fond of eachother on Sunday we will have to keep a close eye on them in the future, holding hands might be coming YIKES!
Oh how cute! Your girls are hilarious. I love that Alli so willingly did what you said. Dave had a girlfriend in middle school and when a girl told on him at church he got busted. He was so embarrassed to have to break up with her, but by the end of the school year (8th grade) the girl was pregnant. I'm sooo glad he broke up with her.
I have my own interview draft in the works, they're my favorite kinds of posts.
I have a draft of the funny things my kids say in blogger and then when they say something I immediately open it up and write it down. I love the funny things they say.
Ha! I do the same thing as Emily with funny things kids say...then sometimes I post, other times I just save for myself.
Love the interviews. They were fun to read!
Cute little girlies! My favorite food as a kid was always mashed potatoes...good taste Ainsley. I never held hands with a boy in grade school, but in sixth grade a boy I was "going out" with hugged me and I almost died because I felt so "dirty". I broke up with him the next day. It was one of Tommy's best friends wouldn't you know.
Loved the interview. You "handled" the hand holding thing very well. I'm impressed!
