Life Saver

Have you ever saved a life before? On occasion I get to save my husband's life...really I do. Every so often I'll look over at him and he'll have the glossy eyes, sometimes he'll be snoring, sometimes he'll be really mean, sometimes he even thinks he's Superman and jumps off flights of stairs, and when it finally clicks in what is going on I go get my Wonder Woman cape on and get ready to save his life. Its true! I run down to the fridge and scavenge around for some soda, a bowl of cereal, some pudding, anything with a high dose of sugar in it and come to the rescue. Easy you think? I think not. Try getting Superman to eat something when he is trying to save the world. Or try getting a hibernating bear to sit up and down some pudding...it's not so easy. So I have to use my divisive way's to get the job done...I mean it's my husbands life. I can't tell you all of my secrets but sometimes its just a single suggestion of him drinking a can of coke and other times it's me having to straddle him and hold him down while I poor chocolate syrup down his mouth, but I tell ya, the job gets done.

What the heck am I talking about? Why the heck do I think ramming food down my husbands mouth is a life saving act? Don't worry he's not dying of anorexia or anything, but he does have diabetes and has had it since he was six years old. Every so often his blood sugar will drop, and drop drastically and make him, well, out of it and that's when my heroic efforts come into place. This is a routine around here that only happens every few months but the other night when I was Wonder Woman I did think that I have saved his life quite a few times. So I told him that he is indebted to me FOREVER and he of course agrees.

What a WOMAN! Wow!! Way to be! It's a good thing you know what to do and are quick at finding sugary things and forcing them down his throat! I think I pulled a kid out of a pool once. Or maybe I was watching someone else do that. My memory's not as good as it once was! Love the pic too!

I agree too! I actually helped a woman last summer. I was in our clubhouse for some reason and when I walked out, I saw a lady sitting on the edge of the pool, looking very out of it. I asked if she was okay, and she kind of slumped over. I ran home and got some grape juice and a candy bar and came back and helped her eat/drink and she came back to normal. I had no idea who she was or if she was diabetic, but the only thought in my head was "get her sugar, fast!" Weird. Glad you get to save Thomas's life every now and then. I bet it makes you feel good, and makes him happy too!

You definately are wonder woman, he's lucky to be indebted to you forever! I've seen some pretty low blood sugars, and it gets scary!

I'm glad that he has you to watch out for him! I know first hand how scary it is when he's like that, but I feel very comforted that you are with him and that you stay calm and know exactly what to do! Thanks for loving my little bro! He's a lucky man!
