Cabin Fever

When I was in Kindergarten I remember going to the nurse constantly. I had it down to a science, I never had a fever but I would tell the nurse how badly my stomach hurt and she would call my mom and she would have to come pick me up. Now this was great for me, I loved it, I got out of school early and got to be with my mom most of the time. But looking back I can only imagine the stress I caused my mom each time she got a phone call because she would have to leave work and probably go without pay and figure out what to do with me. Sometimes I would have to go to a babysitter and that didn't make me so happy. As I got older I would just have to stay home by myself and I hated that...hated it. How come when your sick all you want is your mom? I know it wasn't her ideal situation either and I seemed to have survived just fine.

Whenever my kids get sick it always reminds me of how lucky I am to be able to just sit at home with them and be there. There is some sort of healing comfort in that.

Poor Ainsley has been sick since Thursday with a fever and a little cold.

Claire slept just about the whole day Sunday trying to kick it and made herself a 'bed' with my pillows and bedspread and chilled all day.

And I spent the day washing my sheets, doing other laundry, and bringing my sick monkeys bananas and ice water while they watched TV upside down on my bed.

Now with it being day 3 of kids missing school and Alli home sick for her first round of this sutff I need to keep in mind how lucky I am...because I have to admit I am going a little stir crazy. :)

Poor things...they look pitiful! Sorry you're stuck, but you're right, it's good we get to be home with them.

Sickness sucks! We had it in our house for a while I pretty much went crazy with being home all the time. Hope they get batter and you get out!

Oh yucky, sickness! The girls are very lucky to have you at home too. Being the first kid sick at my house is always easier then being the last kid sick. BECAUSE MOM GETS SICK OF THE SICK!

Sad. It's true though. When I'm sick I STILL want my mom. My nephew had a problem for a while, calling home from the nurses office sick too often, so my sister-in-law implemented a rule: if you come home from school sick, you spend the rest of the day in bed, no matter what. No TV, movies, video games, or computer. If you're well enough to get out of bed, you're well enough to go to school. That stopped the fake calls rather quickly.

It stinks when everyone's sick! They do look pretty sad. I was in the girls classroom yesterday and I swear there were only like ten kids there!

My girlies are sick, too and it's no fun. The day before they got sick I told Jon how lucky we are that we haven't been sick this winter. I guess my problem was I didn't knock on wood after saying that!

Oh . . .that made my heart hurt, sis! And brought back a ton of feelings; icy cold toes, dirty kitchen, nothing to eat, 3 channels on the TV . . .staying home sick sucked! I remember Judy Morrison had to come pick me up a few times because I was sick and mom couldn't get away from work. Probably made mom want to CRY because she couldn't be with her babies when they were hurting!!
