Easter Thoughts and Easter Thanks

Easter is always a beautiful time to reflect on the goodness in life.

This Easter began a little early in the season with 5 dozen eggs being boiled on a Tuesday afternoon, leaving a delicious smell in my home for days. All 5 dozen were used for egg dying, not only with my 3 delightful girlies but also 15 of our activity day girlfriends (ages 8-11). My good friend shares the calling with me and she bulked up on supplies. I am thankful that she always has the excitement needed to do these fun things and is such a Christlike example to me. I am reminded that we need to put everything we have into our callings and not just get by with what we can. The girls all adore her and I can truly tell she adores them all right back.

Next on the list was to make some sort of decorations.

Happily, I found paper mache eggs that we painted and put our hand prints on. We then added our names, a fun little thing we just might keep up and turn into a tradition.

Ainsley's little bunny book added the perfect touch...I love all of the hand drawn bunnies, they melt my heart. I am so thankful for creativity in our lives, and am amazed that from simple things beautiful things can form.

The night before Easter my friend held a flashlight egg hunt. The kids are thrilled by the idea of the lights being turned off and being able to 'hunt' for eggs, however as you can tell by the picture, you hardly have to hunt. This makes me so thankful for joy. Joy in parties, joy in candy, joy in friends, joy in life.

Two best buddies suddenly become best bunnies.

My little guy didn't like the grass too much, none the less I am always taken aback when I stop and think of the beauty of our world, I really do take it for granted, even living here in Arizona, but boy how amazing are God's creations.

Our Easter ended with going to church and then having some friends over for Easter dinner. We had a wonderful day and I feel blessed to have the gospel, great friends and mostly to have my sweet family, that through Christ' sacrifice will allow me to live with them again.

On a side note I do have to mention how grateful I am for my wonderful husband. As everyone was leaving from dinner Allison started puking, which hurried our friends much faster out of the door. Not more than 30 seconds after everyone left did we hear Claire screaming from the top of the stairway that overlooks the front door that her stomach hurt, which was quickly followed by a stream of Easter dinner, down the walls, splattering doors, carpets and more. I think if I were alone I would have cried, but Thomas got right to work, getting the ladder to scrub down the walls and mopped the floors while I cleaned the carpet.

Oh how beautiful Easter is, even amidst the messes of dyes and paints and what ever else. The things that truly matter in this life are intangible.

Very beautiful. Love the hand print eggs, they turned out much better than mine...although the kids had fun and I guess that's what matters. Your Easter outfits are great too! I like all your little sayings that go with each picture...

I love the handprint egg idea, I may have to steal that one from you next year (hope I remember). Sorry to hear the pukes found your family, hope all get better fast.

Oh dear. Glad you weren't alone when the puke started flyin'. Just having another adult around when something like that happens makes it much easier to tollerate! Cute Easter pics. We really missed you guys!
